The Southern District of the few Kerri tories,
With reference to the letter signed "Wireless", which I
recently addressed to you and you published in your columns,
I much regret to find that the gentleman who until recently
held the post of Acting District officer (South) should have
considered the letter as a personal attack on himsel f', No
such attack was intended or in fact made, the letter being
the merely comment on a matter of public interest, namely,
administration of the Southern District of the New Terri tories
during the last twenty years by many District officers and
others.
My sole object in writing the letter was to draw public
attention to the apparently apathetic attitude of the Govern-
ment towards the Southern District in the hope that such
attitude would be modified,
If any further imputations against the gentleman
men tioned were contained in the letter (and I maintain there
were none) such imputations were entirely unintentional and
I with draw them unreservedly.
Yours faithfully,
